Insulating protective shutters protect against accidental contact with live parts of an installation. Due to the various designs of switchgear installations, there are four basic types.

Insulating protective shutters in accordance with DIN VDE 0682-552 provide protection against accidental contact with live parts of an installation at the work location in accordance with EN 50110 (DIN VDE 0105-100).
